Frequently Asked Questions

Shipping Expectations

Orders will be shipped within 2 weeks of the order being placed. We were shipping within 1 week and pulling our hair out making sure everything shipped within this time frame. Also, increasing our shipping time allowance will give us time to work on new products as well, including the highly anticipated butt stock. We do our best to get your orders out as fast as we can in the order they are received. Most pieces are made to order, meaning they are still a solid piece of wood until the order is placed. While we’re expanding and refining our production process, we do work towards keeping more finished products on hand to ship sooner, we completely understand because we like to get things we order as soon as possible too. If you ever have any questions about the time frame of your order, please feel free to contact Dustin@RailWoods.com and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Will the wood burn so close to the barrel?

The ignition temperature of wood M-LOK rail covers typically varies depending on the type of wood used and its density. Generally, wood has a relatively high ignition temperature compared to materials like plastics or synthetic composites such as G10. For most hardwoods used in firearms accessories, the ignition temperature can range from around 250°C to 300°C (482°F to 572°F). This characteristic makes wood M-LOK rail covers inherently safer in high-temperature environments compared to materials like G10, which may have lower ignition temperatures and can melt or deform under extreme heat. As a result, wood M-LOK rail covers offer a robust combination of natural beauty and fire resistance, appealing to shooters who prioritize safety and reliability in their equipment.

Will the wood crack if I tighten it too much?

No, but we’re confident that attempts will eventually be made to prove us wrong, LOL. At RAILWOODS, we utilize flat bottom washers in our rail covers for this precise reason. The durability and design of the wood far surpasses any concerns over cracking; if anything, the screws and T-nuts are more likely to strip before the rail covers sustain damage. Rest assured, there have been zero reports or complaints of problems with our wood products. In the rare event of any issues arising, we will take care of it for you.

Does RAILWOODS accept returns?

We do our best to make our customers happy and we want to take care of our customers. We’re an insanely small business so each customer is very important to us. We have long had a standard of handling everything on a case by case basis, we try to keep things fair. If there are any manufacturing flaws or damages incurred to our products during shipping, we will replace it within 30 days of the delivery date.

Does RAILWOODS have any stores to visit?

No, not yet at least. Our ideas and potential are huge, our progress is careful and slow. We’re just a homegrown business still operating our talents from the basement. When I say “WE” while referring to RAILWOODS, I mean just myself (Dustin) and my wife and kids who I get some opinions from. I am working towards that dream every day.

Do Your Products Fit My Rifle?

If you have an M-LOK handguard, all of our rail covers and foregrips will fit if you have the available space. M-LOK is a mounting system for firearms that allows accessories to be easily attached to a handguard or forend. It consists of slots and locking T-nuts. To install an accessory, simply slide it into the M-LOK slot and secure it in place by tightening the corresponding T-nut. This system provides a secure and lightweight method for customizing your firearm with various grips, rail covers, and other attachments.

What customization options do you offer for your wood AR15 furniture products?

  1. We can carve almost any image into our rail covers. If you want to draw a picture, find one online, some simple text, or have us design something, we can carve it into the sides of pistol grips and rail cover faces.

  2. Wood options. If there is a specific wood that you want that we do not carry yet, we’ll get it. Just fill out the contact form and let us know.

  3. Hybrid Epoxy rail covers and grip combinations. Requests for custom combos are on the table. For now, we get our epoxy hybrid blanks from another great supplier, https://www.farwestworkshop.com/ that creates them in small batches. Because they’re made in small batches, getting an exact reproduction of colors from another product we’ve previously had on the site is not always guaranteed, but they’re always very close.
